Experience perspectives and stories through contemporary photographic art by talented students nationwide.
From over 100 works from students across various universities nationwide, EMERGE: Photography Exhibition 2024 showcases 30 curated collections selected by a group of experienced and knowledgeable committee including Virunan Chiddaycha, Chol Janepraphaphan, Ampannee Satoh, and the three founders and creative directors of HOP.
Each collection serves as a window into its era, reflecting personal perspectives, creative techniques, composition processes and storytelling through photography art.
EMERGE serves as a platform for students and graduates aiming to become artists and emerging photographers. Simultaneously, it supports artists and photographers in recognizing their maximum potential in this storytelling art form. While this exhibition marks just a small beginning in their professional journey, we hope that all participating artists and photographers will discover doors and paths to explore in the future to provide a space for people, artists, and photographers to explore perspectives and gain inspiration through photographic works.
About Our Committees
Ampannee Satoh (B.1983 in Patani, Thailand)
A photographic artist who, through years of accumulated experience, discovered that photography offers far more than the act of documentation alone. She graduated from the Department of Photographic Arts, Faculty of Fine Arts (now the College of Design) at Rangsit University, before continuing her studies in photography at the École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie in France. After completing her studies, she immediately began her career as an educator.
Ampannee artistic practice reflects a wide range of ideas and concerns, including cultural diversity, cultural and religious identity, territory, migration, and displacement. This can be seen in works such as Burqa 01, created during a significant transitional period while she was studying photography in France, as well as Lost Motherland, which depicts figures dressed in pure white burqas within unfamiliar environments to reflect the refugee crisis and the experiences of displaced people. Her practice incorporates multiple media, including photography and video.

Chol Janepraphaphan (Bangkok, Thailand)
Chol Janepraphaphan graduated with Bachelor of Fine Arts, majoring in Art Theory from Silpakorn University back in 2006. He actively participated as assistant curator for “From (Different) Horizons of Rock shelter” and art writer for Fine Arts Magazine, Art4D, Wallpaper and Photo Art Magazine. He was selected by Bangkok University Gallery (BUG) as art critique for project called ‘Brand New’ in 2010, the same year he started working as a curator for Numthong Gallery. Chol has worked collaboratively with Bangkok Art and Culture Centre ever since. He pursued and graduated with the Master of Arts in Mixed-Media from Silpakorn University in 2014.
His focal interests is to work with emerging artists to mid-career artists across all disciplinary with broad frameworks. He is a curator at SAC Gallery since 2017- 2022 and currently is a Chief Curator of Art tong iang by Central Group

Virunan Chiddaycha (Bangkok, Thailand)
Virunan previously served as Editor-in-Chief of ThaiSmile Magazine in the United Kingdom, was a member of the artist collective TAIL (Thai Art Initiative in London), and worked as a guest lecturer at SPEOS Photographic Institute in London, alongside his practice as an independent photographic artist. After returning to Thailand, he founded Le photographe Co., Ltd., establishing his own studio and production house.
He currently serves as a lecturer in the Department of Communication Arts, Photography Program, Faculty of Architecture, Art and Design at King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang. He is also a co-founder of the Sangkrohsaeng School, Editor-in-Chief of the online platform D1839, and continues to work with leading fashion magazines and numerous commercial brands. In addition, Virunan is a Leica Ambassador Thailand and a Profoto Ambassador.
