"Blooms With The Wind Blows" is Marisa Srijanpleang's first solo exhibition, presenting her story through photographs of clumps of grass flowers from the Thai-Cambodian border area. Marisa has sought out these grass flowers, which grew and bloomed whether it be in the twilight zone or the wild along the refuge route, while also delving into the stories of people affected by the Cambodian Genocide, including her own family's narrative.
"Blooms With The Wind Blows" uses photographs of flowers to narrate the stories of ordinary people blown away by the gales of history to different place, and has led Marisa to seek her family's memories that have been separated and lost during time of war.
About the Artist
Marisa Srijunpleang
Born 1993, Surin, Thailand. Marisa is interested in the rural areas along the Thai-Cambodian border in Surin Province since it intertwines with her life as her hometown. She focuses on the lives of people residing in the border region, where the lines between states blur and located far from central city. Her interests leads her to local autonomous history, the sense of being marginal people, the impact of the war, and the resilient efforts of the people and community.
Expressing her exploration through art in various forms. She observes and explores Thai-Khmer local traditions, the nuances of daily life, family memories, and individual stories.
About the Curator
Nutdanai Songsriwilai
Born in 2000 and graduated with Art History from the Faculty of Archaeology, Silpakorn University. Songsriwilai has an interest in art ecosystems, and the roles and processes of curator. Moreover, Nutdai interest in various perspectives of stories, issues, or incident when they are read, narrated, or presented through the art lens.
