Some Time

A Solo Exhibition By Natthawut Taeja
Curated by HOP

8 July - 3 September 2023

Within the realm of fine art photography, low-resolution photography is stood to be another of many photographic presenting dimensions. The output is able to potentially evoke emotions, thoughts, and artistic inspirations altogether. Arose from the technological limitation, yet paves the way to a better understanding of the pivot of imperfection in images. Holding a nostalgic charm to the days of digital and film photography, the issues of deficient sharpness that once led to disappointment and grievance are now crystalised into new meaning. These works of images are now an essential part of captivating aesthetics—emitting emotions and telling a story that departed beyond the sole intention of sacrificing clarity in images.

Onward further into the road of photography, by accepting the defectiveness of low-res images through fine composition create creative opportunities hidden within, seemingly, a photographic cap limit, which transforms them into mesmerizing works of art that not only depict the artist’s personal space but also those with shared remembrances. By bridging the past and present together, images are a door leading to reliving those past moments—to feel those emotions, to lament the bygone times and to explore deeper into a personal reverie.

Seeing a notification of past memories from a mobile application that does not seemingly hold any significance now subtly proves it worthy of becoming a gateway to examine the relationship between yesterdays and today, It is a catalyst for reflection of oneself and expressiveness through the lens of photography.
